REACT Press Conference and Announcement
On January 22, 2024, the Regional Economic Alliance of Counties Together (REACT) group was announced. This group is made up of Cabell, Putnam, Mason, and Jackson County Commissions, united to enhance development in the region. The primary concern bringing these counties together is the current state of Route 2 that traverses through each of these counties. With the development of NUCOR, Fidelis, Berkshire Hathaway, expansions of Toyota, Alcon, and Marshall University, there will be a significant increase of growth across the region. Along with NUCOR, their vision is to include customers on-site to reduce material transportation times and costs. In our region alone, we will see over 2,000 new direct jobs in the coming years, along with many more indirect jobs required for the families coming to this region. This increase in jobs, will bring increased traffic across all the counties with employees commuting. Our primary concern is the safety of our county residents along the Route 2 roadway.
