Victim's Assistance Division
The Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney's Victim Assistance Division
was created because there was a need to secure crime victim rights are
heard throughout the criminal court process. In 1990, the Victim Assistance
Division became a pilot program that led to many other Victim Assistance
programs throughout West Virginia. Services provided throughout the court
process are crisis intervention, information and referral, court accompaniment,
work as a liason between the victim and the courts, assist with preparing
Victim Impact Statements and applying for Crime Victim Compensation,
and provide status of criminal cases, and court preparation in a group setting
or on an individual basis.
