Robert L. Bailey, President, called the Special Meeting of the Cabell County Commission to order at 2:00 p.m.

ORDER #09-8994
W. Scott Bias, Commissioner, moved to approve purchase order #09-8994, postage for the county postage machine. Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
#290 APPOINTMENT
OF ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE
2008
GENERAL ELECTION
Robert L. Bailey, President, asked Karen Cole, County Clerk, if anything had been done regarding poll workers voting out of their district, especially poll workers who do not live in the City of Huntington but work in a precinct where the Mayor’s race appears on the ballot.

Robert L. Bailey, President, stated the Commission would like to make some changes in the election workers.
W. Scott Bias, Commissioner, moved to replace #1 Commissioner Jesse Davis with Sandra Gosnay in Precinct #12. Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

Robert L. Bailey, President, stated the Commission would forward a letter to the Chairwoman of the Democratic Executive Party informing her of the replacements made in precincts 12 and 16.

W. Scott Bias, Commissioner, moved to approve the appointment of Democrats Karen Nance and Shelia McOwen and Repbulicans Lois Merritt and Lois Silling, as Emergency Ballot Commissioners for the 2008 General Election. Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

RE: EMPLOYMENT
Christopher Chiles, Prosecuting Attorney, informed the Commission he was requesting the employment of two assistant prosecutors since Brent Walters was now employed by the Public Defender’s Office and Jane Hustead had been elected as a Circuit Court Judge.
W. Scott Bias, Commissioner, moved to approve the employments of Shawn
Bartram and Douglas Reynolds as Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys. Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, seconded
the motion and the vote was unanimous.
Robert L. Bailey, President, adjourned the Special Meeting at 2:30 p.m., until the next regular scheduled Commission meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m.
