Robert L. Bailey, President, called the special meeting of the Cabell County Commission to order at 9:30 a.m.

#015                            LETTER, THE HONORABLE JOHN L. CUMMINGS,

                                    CHIEF JUDGE

                                    RE:  TEMPORARY WORKERS/MAGISTRATE DEPUTY

CLERK, ASSIGNED TO WORTHLESS CHECK CASES

Barbara Wills, Court Administrator, stated that due to a vacancy for a deputy magistrate court clerk’s position, Chief Judge Cummings requests the temporary employment of Mia A. McDonald and Shannon Obarski, until such time as a permanent deputy clerk was hired.  Ms. Wills further stated both applicants were Marshall University students and had previously worked in the magistrate’s office.  Ms. Wills went on to say the employees would be paid from the worthless check fund and since they would be temporary employees, they would not receive benefits.

W. Scott Bias, Commissioner, moved to approve the employment of Mia A. McDonald and Shannon Obarski, as part-time temporary Magistrate Deputy Clerks, effective January 12, 2005, at a rate of pay of $8.00 per hour.  Robert L. Bailey, President, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
