SPECIAL COMMISSION MEETING

DECEMBER 10, 2003  

 

 

PRESENT:                             ROBERT L. BAILEY, PRESIDENT

                                                NANCY CARTMILL, COMMISSIONER

                                                GLENN WHITE, COUNTY MANAGER

 

ABSENT:                               L. D. EGNOR, COMMISSIONER

                                                SHARON ROSS, ASSISTANT COUNTY MANAGER

                                                FOR BILLABLES AND PAYABLES

 

Robert L. Bailey, President, called the special meeting of the Cabell County Commission to order at 1:00 p.m.

 

Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, moved to approve the employment of Christopher L. Tatum, as Interim Assistant County Manager for Personnel and Purchasing, for the Cabell County Commission, effective December 11, 2003 at the rate of pay of $32,000.00 per year and to include full benefits.

 

Glenn White, County Manager, stated that hiring Mr. Tatum as Interim Assistant County Manager was with the understanding that at a later date the job would be advertised, applications would be taken and a selection process would take place.  Mr. White further stated he felt it was very important to get someone to assist in this job immediately.

 

Robert L. Bailey, Commissioner, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

 

Glenn White, County Manager, informed the Commission an item of extreme importance needed to be added to the agenda concerning a handwritten check to the U.S. Postal Service.

 

Karen Cole, County Clerk, explained the Clerk’s office needed additional funds to cover postage due for mail pertaining to the NCOA.  Mrs. Cole stated Voter Registration needs this mail quickly so the NCOA could be completed.

 

Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, moved to add this item to the agenda.  Robert L. Bailey, President, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

 

Nancy Cartmill, Commissioner, moved to approve a handwritten check to the Postal Service for $500.00.  Robert L. Bailey, President, seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

 

Commissioner Cartmill asked the record to show that Christopher Tatum had been hired for an existing position vacated when Juanita Ferguson retired.   Commissioner Cartmill further stated this was not a new position.
